SUMMARY:Advocating for Children in your Care
DESCRIPTION:Trainer: Renee Cervantez \nDescription: As a caregiver of a child in the foster care system\, there is a lot of support and many resources available to you!  Navigating resources for children who have experienced trauma and identifying the tips and tools for children with special needs can be overwhelming at times.  This brand new mini-series will walk you through some areas to help you identify and advocate for services that will benefit your whole family. The three part series will explore: \nWeek 1:  Identifying & managing in-home and out of home support services \nWeek 2:  Effectively working with Schools \nWeek 3:  Creating positive visitation experiences \nRenee Cervantez has recently joined the FKCE training team and would like to share the following about herself: Renee Cervantez is a Ventura\, CA native and lives in Ventura County with her husband and three children along with 2 dogs\, 1 cat and 2 fish! When she isn’t chasing the kids or animals around\, she can be found enjoying a cup of coffee and reading or catching up on TV shows! She has a passion for young people and enjoys being of service.  Renee has her Master’s Degree in Education and taught for 7 years.  She has been a stay at home mom since 2018 in order to better meet the needs of her family.  Renee and her husband are a Resource Family Approved Home\, first becoming foster parents in 2015. They have been blessed by adoption 3 times and each of their kiddos brings a special piece to their home. \nParticipants will receive a certificate for 6 hours of training upon completion of the series. \nPlease plan to attend ALL dates.\nRSVP to leticia_sandoval1@vcccd.edu \n*Please put Advocating for your Child in the Subject line\, let us know your full name\, and indicate if you are a foster/resource parent/kinship provider in your RSVP \nSponsors: Foster & Kinship Care Education \n \nPlease click image to expand
